This one day course provides training in the essentials of first aid for all those who use the water for leisure and for those who need an appreciation of the difficulties of managing illness and injury in an aquatic environment away from immediate assistance. As such, it is also suitable for RYA instructors who are required to hold a valid first aid certificate.
Whitstable Powerboat Training only uses well qualified first aid instructors who are experienced in delivering first aid training for HSE and RLSS UK accredited qualifications. You can be assured that they are specialists in their field and capable of answering your questions with authority and expertise.
Course topics include:
- Managing the unconscious casualty
- Basic Life Support (CPR)
- Bleeding
- Fractures
- Medical conditions
- Seasickness
- Effects of heat, cold and immersion in water
- Rescue procedures
- First aid kits (including category C stores if required)
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded an RYA First Aid Certificate valid for three years. Assessment is continuous throughout the course and satisfactory completion is dependent upon full participation and competence in basic life support.
It is possible to adapt this course to provide training in the use of emergency resuscitation equipment, including for example oxygen and automated external defibrillators (AEDs), for those specifically involved in activities which have access to this equipment. Similarly we can provide training in the use of spine boards and stretchers if this is required. Additional time and cost may be involved. Please enquire with the principal using the Contact Us page.
Should you need an HSE approved qualification such as the Emergency First Aid at Work (one day) or First Aid at Work (four day course until October, three days subsequently) please go to Kent Lifeguard Services website, who are our sister company specialising in emergency response and water rescue training.
